From one angle, the openness of a wiki seems to demand a WikiMaster: someone

: to control information and keep information straight, and see that no one strays from home too far or they'll have to reel them back in. He's the sherriff of the Wiki. He can oversee the operation and make sure wikis don't lose their focus. He's responsible for managing and keeping everyone in line. The WikiMasters are the Lord of the Wikis.

And on occasion, contributers mention that they are apprehensive about making a WikiMess, or getting something wrong.

But WikiMasters might not be necessary. A wiki can become a SelfRegulatingSystem. The effort is shared. We correct each the other's information. We clean up the mess when we come across it. Librarians, moderators, counter-balances ok.
