I was hoping to find something on this page, but I guess I get to be the first to put down a few ideas.

In clothing construction, pattern books have some basic patterns and many different variations you can make on the patterns. They serve as idea books, often sparking your own exact variation on the basic pattern. Wikis serve as a pattern book. Each wiki has it's programmed pattern and the pattern of how it requests you interact with it. Then you see lots of examples of how other people interact with the patterns, and ultimately build your own contribution to that adds to the pattern examples of those who follow you. Likewise you can add your own flair to other's work, like bedazzling another's construction? or maybe taking a seam ripper and fixing a crooked connection.

Of course, if you'd like to see a wiki of vintage sewing patterns here you go http://vintagepatterns.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
