Topical Writing

To get a sense of topical writing, have a look at the HomePage - which is more or less a list of topics: not writing in the sense of attending to words, not writing in the sense of creating discourse, but writing in the sense of attending to topical places.

It's an outline. Sure, there might be some discourse, but it's essentially an outline.

But, as Bolter writes,
What is new [in hypertext] is that the point of the outline become functional elements in the text (272).

Which is another way of say (among other things) that WikiSupportsTopicalWriting.

Stop and have a look at Bolter, p 273 where you'll see another representation of WritingAsOutline.
