While there is no one set of HTML that is used for all wikis there are a number of resources available. Each individual wiki has it's own style guide, text formatting page, sand boxes, or some other source for HTML rules.

Despite the individual differences, one could argue that each wiki has similar characteristics that don't vary widely, and as such creates its own version of HTML-like rules. For example, HTML software (like Dreamweaver or FrontPage) have similarities, but both end up with the same product. Or you could write raw code, which results in a web page also, but you don't follow the exact steps or procedures that you would use in Dreamweaver or FrontPage.
