Show Me Your Credentials

What gives you the authority to dictate these facts and ideas?

"Wikis - collective knowledge collectively created - enact the fear that knowledge is provisional, situated, contextual, and collective. That knowledge gains authority not be expertise alone, but by enactment and integration with other strands." - MorganAdmin
I am very fond of this quote. Could be considered what is happening with AcademicWriting

The very wiki philosophy that anyone can edit gives it to me. And what's the harm if i have no credentials or authority if I can add information of some sort? So long as I'm bringing something to the table, why should it matter if I never finished high school and am getting all my info from the 1933 edition of Encyclopedia Britannica? If I'm wrong it can be edited out and no harm done, if I'm right, the page is better.
