When Email was Fun: A Hypertext Memoir

What will the article cover? What will it be about?

My college and non-academic life in the 1990's. Email was much more fun before spam and constant forwards and work emails and the endless amounts of crap that ends up in your in box. No one I knew had a cell phone and it was tougher to get in touch with people. The mundane interruptions weren't so constant.

And I miss bathroom graffiti. People have twitter for passive-aggressive digs now. It is just not the same.

What stance will you take? p 32, and again on p 82

My intent will be to amuse. Possibly to make people think, but that would be secondary.

Consider audience fit: niche

My audience would probably have to be people my age. People older than me will probably find it ridiculous, as they remember life before computers, television, and indoor plumbing. People younger than me won't know what I am talking about (or care).

Consider how the article will make contact with readers - chap 3, and chap 4, p 80 - 81

I will be trying something that is new(ish). Also revealing myself and talking about people and a specific time and place.

Where might the article fit on TIO: section and category, either existing or one that will collect others

Real Life again? Maybe experiments, as it is a hypertext memoir.

Research and practices you'll need to do to write the article.

Dial up any creative writing skills I may have. I will also have to figure out how to make this work.

The only way I think I can make this work is to create a bunch of wiki pages for the different parts of the memoir to link to and then be able to link back to the TIO article.
