You don't define a dummy by what a dummy isn't: you define a dummy by what all dummies have in common, and that is that they are dumb. So:

What a dummy is not is someone who is at least doing her best to use her own brain. Some brains are better to use than others: what is important, and what keeps a person from being a dummy, is that they are trying not to be. And there are all kinds of good reasons why you should try not to be.
