Toasty Beavers Sports Bar and Grill

Bemidji's new sports bar

Toasty Beaver's is the newest addition to the bar scene in Bemidji. It opened its doors in August 2010. Toasty's, as the college crowd and locals have nicknamed it, is a well known place for many diverse groups in Bemidji. During the week there is a smaller crowd of mostly locals and some college students that frequent this bar, on Friday and Saturday night the bar is packed, both in the main area and the back room where the dance floor is located.

Atmosphere

You can tell right when you walk into Toasty's that it is a northern Minnesota sports bar, with a wooded main bar, a canoe hanging from the ceiling right over the bar, and there are ten large flat screen televisions that are either tuned into ESPN or a music channel.

There are two pool tables, two dart board machines and two video game machines (Buck Hunter and Golf) that are in the main room at Toasty's. The pool tables are used often and if it is a slower day, the patrons sit around the bar and converse with the bartenders. The bar also has an ample amount of chairs and tables near the bar which patrons use to play drinking games, share a pitcher, or have a bite to eat.

The staff at Toasty's is very friendly, willing to chat about almost anything and always on top of keeping your glass full.

Drink/Food

There are no imported beers on tap (they come in a bottle), but if you like Grain Belt, Budweiser, Miller, or Leinenkugel's you are in luck. On Tuesdays, pitchers are $4.00.

They also have a menu at Toasty's with the typical bar food on it. This includes Wings, Burgers, Pizza, Pitas, Sandwiches, and Appetizers. Some favorite appetizers include buffalo wings (which are 50 cents a piece on Sunday) and fried mushrooms.

Specials

Tuesdays starting at 7pm $4 pitchers of domestic beer

Sunday 50cent buffalo wings

Events

Since Toasty's is the newest addition to the bar scene in Bemidji it hasn't had any annual events yet.

Whenever the BSU Men's Hockey team has a home game at the Sanford Center, Toasty's provides a free shuttle bus service from the bar before the game. The bus picks up the viewers after the game and bring them back to Toasty's to continue the night's celebration, regardless of if the team wins or loses the game.

On March 7th 2011, Toasty's had a "Fat Tuesday Party" (Mardi Gras). The bartenders had plastic bead necklaces that they were handing out to the patrons. At Midnight, the patron who had the most beads received a $100 gift card to Toasty's, the winner for 2011 was a female who was out celebrating her twenty-first birthday.

Toasty Beaver's Sports Bar and Grill is the newest addition to the Bemidji bar scene, opening its doors in the summer of 2010. Toasty's, as it is nicknamed, is undoubtedly a northern Minnesota sports bar, with a wooden main bar that has an upside down boat hanging over it, and plenty of flat screen TVs around tuned into various ESPN channels. This isn't just a place for sports fans, but also a place to socialize or even a place for dancing on the weekends.

Atmosphere

Toasty's has a very happy and upbeat atmosphere, with a staff that reflects that. The bartenders are friendly, talkative, and are always on top of keeping sure that you have something to sip on in front of you.

This bar is one that serves a diverse group of people, from locals to tourist to college students. During the week more locals flock there than college students but on the weekends this is reversed. With an exception of this being on Tuesdays, when pitchers of domestic beers are $4 there's always a fairly large college crowd getting their part of this great deal. The patrons of Toasty's are all out to have a good time and that is the feeling that one has when they are in this bar.

Layout

The bar's interior is lower than the level of the street so right when you walk in you have an eagle's eye view of the bar and what everyone is doing inside. The main bar is off to the left (from the stairs), there are tables and seats to the right with pool tables and dart boards on this side also. The bathrooms are at the back of the main room and are off a little bit to the right. To the left of the bathrooms there is a door that leads to the back room, where they have a second in the wall bar and where the dance floor is located. Toasty's usually has DJs on Fridays and Saturdays in this backroom and they usually are packed with patrons that want to dance, drink, and socialize.

Events

Since Toasty's is the newest addition to the bar scene in Bemidji it hasn't had any annual events yet.

Whenever the Bemidji State Men's Hockey team had a home game at the Sanford Center Toasty's provided a free shuttle bus service from the bar before that game, the bus would pick up the viewers after the game, and bring them back to Toasty's to continue the nights celebrations, regardless of if the hockey team won or lose the game.
