I grew up Crookston.; a place where kids drive their riding lawn mowers as vehicles and get excused from school to help sandbag the river during flood season. I came to Bemidji State University to get a Psychology degree and play for the women's hockey team. Anyone who knows me, associates me with the word hockey. It has been my life for the last 16 years. After I graduate this spring, I will hang up the skates and introduce myself to the real world.

When I catch a break from hockey or school, I do things to unwind. I am not the kind of person who enjoys long walks on the beach. I prefer short walks under the stars. I occasionally read books (mainly Jodi Picoult and Nicholas Sparks). I go running outdoors because I like the constant change of scenery; you don't get that on a treadmill. I watch a lot of TV such as Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, and Vampire Diaries--the chick flicks of television. Other than that, I nap and eat.

Am I a writer? I don't consider myself a writer. I guess that is a lie, however, because we are all writers. We write everyday. We learn to write elementary school, because it's deemed important. When I say I'm not a writer, I guess it's because I don't sit at a desk and write the next Great American Novel. My writing will never have a drastic impact on society, but it is of great value to me.
