A message to all my followers. (at DUMBO, Brooklyn)

The Effects

I took her simple saturday meditation notes for herself and change it into a insult message to all her followers making the distance between her and her followers a bit uncomfortable, confusing and to invoke anger maybe. As I direct the message to the followers in Dumbo, Brooklyn.

"Ask yourself how much of the pain you suffer in life is because of something you wish somebody else would be, or do, or fix, or transform."

I came across these words from Elizabeth Gilbert this morning, and stopped dead in my tracks.

I am so guilty of this, especially with the people I love the most. Hoping they will release anger, heal the past, stop smoking, eat healthier, live more consciously, go after what truly matters to them, and the list goes on…

I cause myself pain and distress worried about their choices and actions, which is ultimately beyond my control and “energy field,” as Oprah says.

"You don’t have power over your spouse, over your parents, over your neighbors, over your co-workers, over your children … And trying to hold power (even with the best intentions) will only bring you – and them – nothing but suffering."

You have no power here, Amber! That’s my mantra for today (and this month). Along with… Here! Right here inside of your heart, that’s where you hold all the power. For you. For your health. For your actions. For your dreams.

And love! While I can’t fix or change or heal or transform anyone else, I can certainly love with all of my being.

I came across these words from Lord Of The Rings this morning, and stopped dead in my tracks.

You have no power here, Gandolf! That’s my motto for today (and this month). Along with… "Here Your Sign!"

I love this movie!

The Effects

It change from a personal, third person or diary monologuing about herself not being able to have power to control her problems and feeling guilty and start to try and change herself for the better. Into a statement that claims that she loves the Lord Of The Rings movies and the quote "You have no power here." changing her audience into people who like Lord Of The Rings and who knows or seen the you have no power here meme.

Myers Standpoint

I agree with Myers claim and I think it is relevant when it comes to to blogs and the internet in general. From blogs and other websites like youtube, facebook, or twitter it is very important to have an engaged audience rather then a big audience for when they are engaged they will keep coming back for more and even suggest there friends or family members to it if they like it. Also for being an engaged audience they are likely to give you feedback and even talk to other people on that blog or website making it more engaging. A big audience might look good but can clutter feeds and comment sections and not really having a engaged or targeted audience when it comes to that because there won’t be discussions between people but just stupid people leaving links to other sites or saying something completely off the topic discussed making that blog or website feel like it has no purpose.
